Dental Implants

Dental implants can be an extremely useful solution to an individual looking to replace teeth. They are custom-crafted titanium screws that are placed in the jawbone to serve as a firm foundation for a new tooth or denture.

Implants look and feel completely natural and are a very common choice as they provide a permanent and aesthetic alternative to bridgework or dentures. In most cases, it is impossible to distinguish an implant-supported tooth from that of a natural tooth.
Dental implants require no special care- only brushing and flossing- much like your natural teeth.
If you have recently lost a tooth, or have full or partial dentures, you might want to consider a dental implant from Dr. Steve Colomby and Dr. Jordon Lazare, dentist at Springfarm Dental in Thornhill.

The procedure is performed in a three-part process whereby:
  • An anchor - a titanium screw - is embedded in the jaw bone;
  • A post is inserted into the anchor to hold an artificial tooth;
  • The artificial tooth is attached to the post.
However it is important to remember that in order to undergo a dental implant you will need to have healthy gums and adequate bone to support it.

One of the main benefits of a dental implant is that it normally lasts a lifetime!
